Finally! After several weeks (with a break here and there for summer holidays) we have arrived at the most played song on my iPod. I absolutely love this song by Juliet and the version in this video is the closest to the version I have.
What are the most played songs on your iPods?
We’re almost at the end of this little series “The Top Ten Most Played Songs on my iPod”. The songs in the first and second position were clearly at the top with three times more plays than any other songs in my collection. In other words: I played them to death. Over and over and over again, on repeat, one after the other.
I usually like posting the original videos but I couldn’t find one for this song and the actual version in this video is the one I love so much. I can’t really explain why I fell so deeply in love with this song but it is a fabulous dance song.
I love Klaxons and they have been my favourite band since early 2008. Their first album Myths of the Near Future blew me away and I can’t wait for their new album to come out later this month. You can pre-order Surfing the Void on Amazon.co.uk.
I listened to Klaxons obsessively for several months and while “Magick” was my favourite Klaxons song, I actually listened to “Atlantis to Interzone” many more times. That is probably because of the competition Klaxons held to remix the song and the scores of versions you can find online. This video is the original version but my favourite remix is the Metronomy remix.
One of the best memories I have of my trip to London in 2004 was rushing around on the London Underground all the time listening to this song. I found London so fast-paced and exciting and loved the efficiency and anonymity of the Underground. I should have known then that it wouldn’t take me too long to move to London. I don’t often catch the Underground these days and I’ve never captured the heady fever of that summer trip in 2004 but this is the city that I love and that I call home.
“Make Your Move” will always remind me of London and the London Underground.
As we speak, I’m travelling home from an awesome weekend at the Exit Festival in Serbia. It was an awesome, life changing experience and I will be sure to write up about it over at Emm in London. Over to number five of the most-played songs on my iPod.
As with Milk & Sugar’s “Let The Sun Shine” that I posted four weeks ago, I have been a life long fan of the original version of this song. When this jazzed up, extended dance version originally came out, I immediately loved it and proceeded to play it to death!
I can’t believe it is only 18 months since I first discovered (and raved about) The Kooks. While most of the songs in this top ten have been on my iPod and playlist for several years, the Kooks are pretty new and that just goes to show how much I played this song! If I remember correctly, I played it on repeat for just about the whole of October 2008. A brilliant band and I’d certainly recommend visiting my previous post to listen to more of their music.
At number seven in the list of songs most recently played on my iPod is one one of my favourites bands of all time. Radar is Francis Peyrat and Christophe Goze and they are a brilliant and underrated band. Sadly there is no official video and the Radar Productions YouTube channel is now defunct. I really, really wish they’d bring out some new material.
I’ve been a lifelong fan of Hair and it was no surprise that when Milk & Sugar brought out this updated, house version of the song in 2003 that I’d like it so much. This version of “Let The Sun Shine” is the eighth most frequently played song on my iPod and is definitely an uplifting, happy song for a Monday morning!
This is the ninth most played song in my music collection and that is absolutely no surprise. It became known as “Mandy’s song” in our office because every, single time it came on I would exclaim, “I love this song!”. It is just such a happy, uplifting song.
It has been a long time since I did a Music Monday post but I really do love sharing random songs here and there. Followers of this blog will know that my primary music love is indie rock followed closely by all genres of alternative music. I think therefore that you might be very, very surprised then to learn what the top ten songs on my iPod in terms of play count are because there are only two songs on the top ten that could even remotely be considered to be alternative or indie. And so now I present the songs that make my friends shake their heads in despair, wondering where they went wrong in my musical education.
At 45 plays, “Santa Maria (Del Buen Ayre) is the tenth most popular song on my iPod. That is absolutely no measure of how much I love this song though as I pretty much played it on repeat from April to October 2006 but that was in the bad old days before I got my iPod in May 2007. “Gotan” is an mash up of the word “tango” and they release fantastically authentic tango albums with a very modern flavour. To this day, I cannot listen to this song just once and usually spend a couple of hours listening to it over and over again. Love it.
