I can’t believe that it is almost two years since I posted that the awesome Andrew Garfield was to be the new Peter Parker and now the premieres have taken place in Moscow and London and the countdown is definitely on. It is no secret that I am a massive Andrew Garfield fan and I simply cannot wait to see this film. Today, SonyPicsUK have released new 20 and 30 second teaser trailers. A new 2:27 trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man is out today. I haven't made any secret of the fact that the reason I am so excited for this film is because I adore Andrew Garfield and I cannot wait to see him in action. Judging from this trailer though, the film looks pretty good. Rhys Ifans looks like he’ll make a fabulous adversary and the special effects look brilliant.

Thanks to SuperheroHype, we got an early look at the first official poster for The Amazing Spider-Man, starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, and it definitely has a mysterious vibe. If this image is any clue, we're in for a darker (perhaps creepier) Spidey tale than we've ever seen before.
Two things are worth noting with this poster - first, there's no Spidey logo or title (besides the shadow), which is an interesting choice. Just guessing, but apparently Sony Pictures believes the spider shadow alone is so recognizable that a title is unnecessary - after all, everybody knows who Spidey is, right?
Second cool thing about this poster are the words "the untold story". Again, I'm speculating here, but I think that's referring to the story of how Peter Parker was orphaned and wound up being cared for by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. I'm not being a spoiler, because the trailer that was released months ago hints at that in the first few seconds. (see below) We already know that Richard and Mary Parker (Peter's parents) will appear in the movie, so I'll wager that their backstory is a big plot element. Think I'm wrong? Let me have it in the comments.
We only have to wait until July 13 to find out.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past three days, you've probably seen the trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man which is due out in the UK on 3 July 2012. In the unlikely event that you have missed it, I’ve embedded the official UK trailer at the end of this post.
I am a massive fan of English actor Andrew Garfield, which is just as well because otherwise I wouldn’t know what to make of this new reboot. As far as I was aware, Tobey Maguire had been signed up to perform his role as Peter Parker in seven Spider-Man films. I really liked Tobey in this role and enjoyed Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson. Disaster struck in early January 2010 when Tobey pulled out of the Spider-Man franchise.
The future of the franchise was hanging in the balance and then Sony Pictures announced that they were abandoning plans to make further Spider-Man films featuring Tobey Maguire and director Sam Raimi (thus cancelling the planned Spider-Man 4). They announced that they would be completely rebooting the franchise with new storylines, actors and crew.
The film, which is now in production, is being entirely shot in 3D. It stars Emma Stone (Zombieland) as Gwen Stacy and Martin Sheen and Sally Field as Ben and May Parker, Peter’s aunt and uncle. The film also stars Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott and Irrfan Khan, and is directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer).
I’m really looking forward to the film and am especially looking forward to 12 more months of promo photos such as these:

Um, oh yum! The first image of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man has been released for the upcoming Spider-Man movie. The title of the film has not been locked yet but I simply cannot wait! Andrew Garfield is one of my favourite British actors and I think he will add a new level of intensity and depth to the role of Peter Parker. The first film in the reboot of the Spider-Man franchise will be released in July 2012.
